A. Transitional Housing
Transitional housing is temporary housing that provides a structured living environment to help people with psychiatric disabilities move from shelters and hospitals into the community. On average, residents stay from six to 18 months before moving on to more independent housing. Our two transitional housing sites are Access House and Libby House, as well as scattered-site housing.
Once a referral comes in through the referring agency, Community Access will schedule an intake interview with the prospective tenant. An internal intake form is filled out during the interview process.
Applications from individuals are not accepted for Transitional Housing. If you are interested in Transitional Housing please apply through your current housing provider or shelter.
B. Permanent Supportive Housing
Community Access offers rent subsidized housing with support services to people with psychiatric disabilities and a history of homelessness who satisfy criteria established by our funding agencies. These criteria differ from agency to agency and may include an evaluation by the referring agency, medical clearance and a written intake form.
Applications from individuals are not accepted for Permanent Supportive Housing. If you are interested in Permanent Supportive Housing please apply through your current housing provider or shelter.
C. Community Housing
At some of the Community Access sites, housing is provided to individuals and families from New York City. Households interested in one of these units must meet income eligibility as required by our funders. There is a waiting list for those who demonstrate that they meet minimum income requirements of $12,800 and up for singles or $25,000 and up for families.
Equal Housing Opportunity
Qualified applicants' names will be placed on a waiting list and held for six months in case of future openings.
